How to know what CHANGE you want in your life? How to decide what to do to make the change happen? How to have clarity of thoughts? How to set goals?
Even when everything goes well in life we feel something is not good. Sometimes we feel unhappy about our life and we realize that something is lacking in us or may be in our habits or lifestyle. And sometimes it's just that we want to improve, grow and want our life to be even better than what it is presently. But we feel so overwhelmed that we can't think clearly and lose motivation to improve our life. We are not able to decide what
we want to change so that our life can
become more meaningful and fulfilling.
So I am going to share the best technique I have discovered to have clear thoughts, know and decide how to find and be clear about what changes we want in life.
It's easy to think what we don't like about our life as we mostly keep thinking what is not good rather than what is going well in life.
So take our
pen and paper (Clean white paper, not rough sheet to Write on) and Write in
clear handwriting as much as possible (as clean thoughts come from clean speech
and clean handwriting, trust me!) what do you dislike about your life?
Such as,
- I don't like the fact that I am so lazy and inactive.
- I am not happy with my financial situation.
- I don't like the way my health is.
- I am always late for my online meetings and that's why my boss always complains and insults me about it and I feel embarrassed.
- I don't like that my room is so messy and I hardly find things I want when needed.
Write all your thoughts about your dislikes in your current life which bothers you.
Now imagine
how the opposite of all the dislikes you have mentioned will be and how you
will feel about it. Write the opposite of all the above points you have
written.
Such as,
· I like the fact that I am super active and don't procrastinate.
· I am happy about my financial stability.
· I am healthy and that makes me feel blessed.
· I feel proud of myself as it feels like an achievement that I am always on time, especially in my online meetings, well dressed in a presentable outfit to look professional and that's why my boss always appreciates me in front of my colleagues and especially because of my sincerity and punctuality.
· I like how my room is clean and organized and I can easily get what I want when needed as everything is at its right place.
Now you know what change exactly you want as what will make you happy in your present life.
Now think of each point as goals to achieve.
Write in bullet points what mini steps you can take to reach that goal. Keep imagining the result as it will help you to find the solution. You can also read about your goal and how others reached it. Nowadays, thanks to the internet, so many
audiobooks are available. Helpful articles are also available which you can
read to find solutions to any of your problems (but make sure to identify right
information, not misleading ones).
But I believe that all answers to our questions which are personal lies within us and we already know what the solution
is and what we need to know and do to achieve our goal and make the changes in our life as we desire our life to be. It is just that we need peaceful and non-waving thoughts to understand each and every emotion of ourselves very clearly and then the path to reach our desired goal becomes absolutely crystal clear.
The books, videos available on platforms like YouTube and specialized websites. These articles are just to remind us what we already knew.
So think if you want to change something what you will do first and after that what you will do? This is how to keep imagining the steps you'll take to reach the final step that is your goal.
Just enjoy the process, don't become too serious about it. Stay flexible.
For example, let's take the first point mentioned above that we changed from dislikes into like…
"I like
the fact I am super active and don't procrastinate".
So here the goal is to quit procrastination and become active doing productive activities.
To do so you have to be aware of your why and how first so that you are clear about your goal and have the right emotion behind setting it.
Find Reason- Why? Why do you want to become active? How will it serve you and others?
How exactly
can you become active?
The answers can possibly be eating a healthy diet and staying away from junk food as it lowers your metabolism and makes you feel drowsy and lethargic.
Doing regular exercise also or exercise in a form of hobby or fun activity which will make you feel more active. Such as, dancing as it is good for your mood and body too. You can join a dance group or can dance with your family members and
friends on all your favorite songs and music and enjoy time and also sweat the
excess fat and also your companions will benefit from it as their mood and
health will prove too.
It will be just like a mini party with your loved ones every day. Don't forget to include healthy snacks and drinks for you all in the party to feel more energized. You can do it regularly or on alternate days or during weekends as your companies may be busy on working days.
But if you do dance exercise just on weekends then kindly do light exercise during weekdays like skipping, stretching and even yoga (best for body and mind relaxation).
Or if you have a pet like a dog then you can take your dog out for a walk in the morning and evening and enjoy breathing fresh
air in your nearby park and your dog will also love it to spend time outside home with his human.
So that's
how you can gain clarity of thoughts, know and decide what change you want in
your present life and from that can also set goals for yourself and also steps
(mini goals) to take to reach your desired goal.
Don't forget to record your progress in a notebook or an application as many are available on the internet and can easily be used by anyone. When you will go back to see how much progress you have made then you will feel more motivated and confident to achieve higher goals in your life.
