‍‍‍‍‍‍‍Motivation is the drive towards our purpose or goal which we desire to achieve. It is the reason because of which we work hard towards reaching our highest goal. Motivating ourselves provides drive and encouragement to do what we want to do and turn failures into success. Self-motivation simply means “motivating oneself”.



 At times when life is too hard to tackle with or the situations we experience are not going the way we want it to be or as per our hopes, in these difficult times of life we feel overwhelmed and discouraged about almost everything and also about ourselves as well.



 In this moment of feeling low we need to get motivated. Motivating yourself makes you feel independent and it is about providing oneself confidence to fight back at those challenging times when there is a lack of favorable situations and inspiration.

Change negative thoughts into positive:

Well firstly, negative thoughts are of no use. Aren't they ? Secondly these unrequired thoughts just damage all your energy which can do so well to you and even others around you.

By replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts, you help yourself to see the bright side of the situation. It is exactly what we think when we see a half filled glass of water.

  


Change your environment:

Organize your surroundings or change it. Sitting in a particular place can be depressing or monotonous. A positive organized environment leads to positive and clear thoughts. If you can't go out or can't even go to another room in the house then best is to upgrade the place you stay most of the time.

 


For example, if you stay most of the time in your room then look around and see how positive you can make it look and what exactly you can do to make it give you positivity.



What I like to do is every week when I have some free time, I try to learn something new to make room for my room through the internet. I make new art craft for the room or update my vision board so that I feel motivated to stay in the room plus it makes me stay motivated to achieve my desired goals.



You also can do such things to make your surroundings appealing to you. Plant small plants, make and stick motivational quotes on the wall.

Keep it clean wherever you stay just keep it clean and tidy as messy surrounding leads to messy mind.

 

Do something you like or you're already good at or learn a new skill:

By doing so you will feel better and start remembering that you have your special skills, for example, by painting beautiful scenery, you will find success in it and this little success will provide you an extreme level of self-belief and will help you regain your confidence back.

  


Regain positivity and confidence by helping others:

This will make you realize your self- worth and capabilities. By helping others we feel that we are blessed with something special to serve others. Try not just motivating yourself but also others as well.

 It not only makes us feel good about others who need that help in their difficult times but also about ourselves as well.

 


Self-care helps:

Self-care is not being selfish. When you take care of yourself, for example, you take care of yourself physically, you look good and healthy then people appreciates you the way you look or how active you're being then you feel confident and motivated.



 Self-care has so many benefits not just physically but it keeps you healthy mentally as well. It simply loving you and nurturing self. Write something good you felt about yourself everyday and be grateful for it.

 


Focus on your goals and get clarity about it:

Having clarity about goals is as important as having a goal. Can you walk a desired path when you clearly don't know why you want to walk on it and what exactly is the purpose behind it?

You can use a vision board or daily journaling to write your goals and this will provide you clarity about your ambitions. Write regularly every thought came into your mind which brought clarity to you about that specific goal.

 


 Keep a diary or notebook with yourself to do so and nowadays the best is to have a diary app in your phone with a lock. Write in it and don't tell anybody about it till the time you don't achieve it. If it requires involvement of others then only disclose others to the most trusted ones. Also write what they said about it and what you learnt from their opinion.

The clearer you are the more motivated you'll be to achieve the milestone.

 


Staying with like-minded positive people:

By doing so you're making an effort to keep yourself motivated. These kinds of people will convey positive energy to you and will believe in your goals and will support you. They can be your family or your friend or even a neighbor whom you admire or get positive vibes from.



Avoid comparing yourself or your life with other's lives as they have their own story and you have your own unique special life.

  

Track your progress and reward yourself for every improvement you make:

Keep a habit Or goal tracker application in your phone Or just right in a notebook what improvement you have made so far which you can see at the end of each day to feel motivated and also have analysis of how far you have come in your improvement journey.



 By rewarding yourself you will show love to self and It's how you appreciate yourself for every effort you're making to achieve your goals. 

Watch good motivational videos of great leaders Or personalities to keep yourself motivated:

I personally like to watch great Oprah Winfrey's interviews as I feel inspired by her, you can also do the same by listening to your favorite personality's speech or watching TED Talks videos too to feel inspired and motivated.



 Reading motivational books and listening to audiobooks are also helpful, not only for self-motivation but also to gain knowledge.
