Health comes first! How to prioritize health and Why is prioritizing health important?

Health is a state of being, that is it is our overall condition
mentally, physically and spiritually.

When we are in good condition completely then we are called
healthy or that we have good health.

What benefits prioritizing health care first provides?

Have you ever thought or noticed that legendary people, who inspire us, give their health their first priority?
They do various activities such as waking up early on a regular basis, reading books, exercising, following the right diet, focusing on goals
and spending time with family.

They do all this not just for their profession or personal life
but also as self-care practices. This keeps them mentally and physically fit to face the challenges in life and also in their respective careers.

What happens when we stop giving priority to our health?

When such people don't give their health priority then they also
lose everything so fast and we also get to see their downfall in various media
platforms. They may still have financial wealth but because of wrong decisions
neglecting taking care of their physical, mental or spiritual health leads to
make them weak and lost in tough situations and they start losing everything
they once had.

Superstars who were our idols once or even crush maybe; whom we
used to adore started taking their life for granted or maybe went through hard
times that they start avoiding their own body by consuming wrong things and
doing wrong activities because of which their stardom just vanishes in front of
their eyes.

It's always good not to take our life for granted no matter how
healthy we presently are or how financially and personally stable we are.
Taking care of health along with discipline should be a daily
ritual including many small self-love rituals which should be followed till the
end of our amazing journey called life!

Personal experience and thoughts

I was diagnosed with a life threatening autoimmune disease in the
year 2011. By the grace of God I survived. While battling the disease I used to
always think about how important health is and when we don't have it or we have
poor health, it feels like you don't have anything. I realized that when we
have good health then only you can enjoy everything.

Having everything around me, people giving me things I always wanted and also my mother making good food for which I used to love eating, I was just not able to enjoy any of it.
I used to feel so good to have everything, people making efforts to see me good yet so
sad too because of my poor health...food didn't taste the way it should have, I
couldn't wear those clothes gifted to me as I wasn't able to go outside
anywhere and actually wasn't even able to go to the next room in the house as I
always needed bed rest (couldn't even get up on my own).

So that time I used to say to my friends that I just feel that I have everything but I don't do anything and they used to understand what I meant feeling sorry about me.
Even after gradually recovering I always used to think why it happened
to me that I suffered so much. Later as days passed after being more connected
to our Creator, I realized that I was good at everything such as sports,
cooking and dancing.

Even used to eat healthy and also had (have) love for my lovely parents but the only thing I used to do wrong is overthinking and not practicing any type of stress reducing practice as I was unaware that stress was taking toll over me.

I had an addicted family member about whom I used to keep thinking
and the sad family environment used to affect me because of which I used to
feel traumatized. Later with time focusing on my life more I realized that if I
practice meditation, mindfulness and acceptance then the situation would not
affect me the way it was affecting me.

Then I started praying more, talking to God whenever I felt like
talking, telling everything; eating better and healthily, also became conscious
about what my body tries to tell me along with not reacting or responding to
wrong behavior and negativity.

I avoided everything and even everyone who was making me feel low
about myself intentionally or unintentionally and the situation I was in
without disrespecting them to protect myself and others too (peace is always
good for everyone).

What must we do?

We must always remember that health comes first. If someone wants
to achieve goals in their career, they can do so with good health and learning
skills. A student with good health studies better and also performs better in
examinations. If parents are healthy and follow a healthy lifestyle then their
kids also learn from them and keep their own health in good condition.

The only thing we have to do is to control our brain that is our
mind should command our brain about what to think and do, what is right and
what is wrong for us. And eventually change habits which are not serving us
anything good.

Habits are the foundation of good health.

When we were babies/kids our parents use to try to inculcate good habits in us so that we stay healthy and productive in life but as we grow up and take our lives in our hands and even at that take our parents try to tell us that we are having bad habits and it
will harm us, then we take their love, care and advise as interference… What do
we do exactly? We harm ourselves and later in life realize that life is out of
our hands and nothing can be improved or changed and all possibilities end as
then it's too late… isn't it? So we should stop doing so. Listen to people who
genuinely care for us and practice daily good habits for better overall health.

I would also include here that we must stop comparing our lives
with other people's lives as each and every one of us has our unique journey
and our own struggles. Our life experiences can be relatable but still it's
different and our own given by God. Comparing life with other people is the
beginning of misery so should be avoided as much as possible. Rather focus on
self. When we love ourselves then we can successfully love others too in the
right way and it is not being selfish at all.

Better live a big healthy beautiful life full of achievements and
lovely relationships rather disrespect the precious gift given by the Creator!
